This item is an autographed copy of Elvis Presley’s 1974 Kenpo Karate Gold Identification Card, measuring 2 1/4" x 3 1/2", commemorating one of Elvis Presley’s proudest personal achievements outside of music.
On September 5, 1974, Elvis Presley was promoted to 8th Degree Black Belt by Ed Parker, founder of the International Kenpo Karate Association (IKKA). To mark this occasion, Elvis was presented with a gold identification card certifying his membership in the IKKA and his rank of 8th A.M.A. (Associate Master of the Arts).
According to Dave Hebler, Elvis Presley’s longtime personal bodyguard and close associate, Elvis cherished this card deeply. Hebler states that Elvis carried the card with him everywhere, proudly showing it to friends and acquaintances. Elvis was so proud of this achievement that he asked Dave Hebler to have copies made so they could be given out as mementos.
This example is an autographed copy, personally signed by Dave Hebler, who also provided the accompanying written statement verifying the history and significance of the card. Hebler’s firsthand connection and signature add an important layer of provenance and authenticity to the piece.
Elvis’ dedication to karate was lifelong, and his involvement with Kenpo Karate—under the guidance of Ed Parker and others—was an essential part of his discipline, confidence, and personal identity. Items related to Elvis’ martial arts journey are among the most meaningful and historically significant artifacts connected to his life.
Ideal for serious Elvis collectors, martial arts historians, and museums, this autographed Kenpo Karate Gold ID Card copy represents a rare and personal glimpse into Elvis Presley’s pride, discipline, and commitment to the martial arts.
