The inspiration behind Million Dollar Smile comes from a deeply personal, firsthand memory shared by Brenda in her book, The Holy Spirit, Elvis, and Me. As a young girl, Brenda recalls her Uncle Vester allowing her to pass through the gate and step onto the grass, giving her a rare opportunity to watch Elvis Presley up close. On that day, Elvis was buying cars and giving them away—an act of generosity witnessed firsthand by the artist.
The smile captured in this artwork is the very first thing Brenda noticed as she watched Elvis that day. That warm, genuine smile—seen with her own eyes—is what inspired the painting and gives this piece its name. The print preserves the emotion, kindness, and authenticity of that moment.
